This course provides the opportunity for healthcare professionals with a developing interest in medical education to explore the theoretical principles underpinning medical education and consider how this relates to their practice.
The course aims to develop medical educators who are informed and understand the core principles and issues in medical education.
It is coordinated through the Academic Unit of Medical Education and delivered in collaboration with the Academic Unit of Primary Medical Care.
You can go on to study for a PG Diploma or Masters in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education.

- Curriculum Design, Implementation and Monitoring
- Assessing the Learner
Seminars, workshops, practical activities and tutorial group discussions.
Each module is assessed via a reflective portfolio.
1-2 years part-time
Despite being a relatively experienced educator, this course helped me improve the way I teach our trainees. It opened my eyes up to the theory of assessment and the tools we use. It's a really enjoyable course for postgraduates from varying backgrounds and all grades of experience.

You will need a good first degree or masters level degree within the medical area and be able to demonstrate a keen interest in medical education.

English language requirements
Overall IELTS grade of 7.0 with a minimum of 7.0 in each component, or equivalent.
