13:00 – 14:00 GMT

Speaker: Dr Liz Croot

About this Event

People with learning disabilities have poorer health and shorter life expectancy than the general population, differences that are, to some degree, avoidable. They face inequalities in access to and use of health services and are often excluded from research, which limits the extent to which the findings are relevant and applicable to them. In this webinar Liz will talk about adapting the Slimming World intervention with and for people with learning disabilities.

For more information, please visit the website below and we suggest that attendees watch the video on the home page https://beingwarmbeinghappy.org/

Dr Croot will be joined by Jodie Bradley and Vicky Farnsworth will talk about some of the work they have been involved in with University research teams, NHS clinical commissioning groups, local authorities and government departments, to make sure people with learning disabilities are valued and included in society.

Dr Liz Croot is a Senior Research Fellow and Director of Learning and Teaching in ScHARR. Her research is predominantly participatory qualitative work which aims to improve the health and wellbeing of people with learning disabilities.

Liz is joined in this webinar by Jodie Bradley, a self advocate with learning disabilities and autism and Vicky Farnsworth, a self advocate with learning disabilities. Jodie

and Vicky both work for SpeakUp self-advocacy and have spent many years co-producing research and service improvements for people with learning disabilities.
