Making our university safer

In 2018, we welcomed two dedicated South Yorkshire Police (SYP) Officers to the team. They will support our security team to ensure the safety and security of the University community, its buildings and visitors.

Head of Security, Richard Yates, said: “The officers are not here to patrol campus as independent police officers like they would when they patrol the streets of South Yorkshire. They will be working under the direction and control of the University's security services team reporting directly to the Security Services management team.”

Tell MAMA

We work with the Tell MAMA (Measuring Anti-Muslim Attacks) project to make sure incidents are reported, recorded and analysed, working to ensure this data is accurate and reliable and the victims and witnesses affected receive support. This project also works with police forces across England, Wales and Scotland in order to ensure access to justice for victims through the prosecution of perpetrators.

Tell MAMA are an independent, non-governmental organisation which works on tackling anti-Muslim hatred.

CST

CST (Communitiy Security Trust) is a Jewish charity that helps and supports victims of antisemitism, and records antisemitic activities and incidents, including on campus. CST also provides security advice to Jewish communities, including students.

CST also work to promote good relations between British Jews and the rest of British society by working towards the elimination of racism, and antisemitism in particular.
