Jennifer Watson joined the University of Sheffield in October 2018 as Research and Impact Fellow in the Department of Politics. She works to demonstrate the real world impact and societal changes that are being driven by SPERI research and from the wider Department of Politics. Her main focus is to evidence this impact to meet the 2021 Research Excellence Framework (REF) criteria but she also plays a role in helping academics to identify and create opportunities for academics to engage with the public, politicians, industry, civil society and other stakeholders to show how their research is helping to shape the way we live our lives.

Jennifer is a public policy professional with EU and domestic experience and previously worked as a qualified journalist in the UK and France. She worked in Brussels for four years in the European Parliament and with a local government body before returning to the UK where she undertook policy roles for a global professional body and most recently at the Financial Conduct Authority. Jennifer has a Masters in Public Policy & Management and speaks French, German and Spanish.
