Applying and deadlines for the Study Abroad Programme
The way to apply for a place on the Study Abroad Programme is to complete an on line application form.
Depending on whether you are an exchange student or sponsored/ independent fee paying student, the process is slightly different. Please read the relevant section that applies to you.
Your home University MUST officially nominate you via our on line nomination form.
Shortly after your home University has nominated you, Global Opportunities & Exchanges will send you an email with the web location of the on line application. Please download the Application Notes to the right of the screen. Please ensure you read these very carefully before submitting your application.

You must complete the on line form and upload all required supporting documents to the application. Please do not email your documents.
Study Abroad/Sponsored or independent fee paying students
You should email Global Opportunities & Exchanges (email@example.com) with the following details and request the web link and password for the on line application:

If you will be sponsored, please give the full details of the person whom needs to be invoiced for your tuition fees:

THE DOCUMENTS SHOULD BE IN ELECTRONIC FORMAT:
Valid file formats are:
.jpg, .png, .gif, .pdf, .doc, .docx, .odf
- Up to date transcript (original and in English)
- Reasons for applying (outlining the reasons why you wish to study at the University of Sheffield. Max 1000 words)
- One written academic reference (must be from someone who teaches you an academic subject)
- English Language Proficiency certificate (IELTS or another accepted test) – only if English is not your first language
- ARCHITECTURE STUDENTS ONLY: Please also send a digital portfolio of approximately 10 pages (max file size 20MB) providing a sample of your work to date
- MUSIC STUDENTS ONLY: Please see additional requirements
We recommend that you apply as early as possible to ensure that you receive all necessary information in good time.
You must complete the online application and upload all of the above documents by:
1 April (for December Finish students)
1 May (for full year and Autumn (Fall) semester students)
1 October (for spring semester only students)
Exchange students: please be aware that your home university may have an earlier on campus application deadline, check with your International/Exchange Office ASAP
