ACSE Alcohol Research Impact
Research on alcohol pricing conducted by Dr Robin Purshouse and colleagues from the School of Health and Related Research and Department of Economics has been highlighted by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) for its impact.
The Sheffield team used datasets hosted by the Economic and Social Data Service, which is part-funded by the ESRC, to develop the Sheffield Alcohol Policy Model (SAPM). The SAPM has featured prominently in the news over the past three years and findings from it have been used by the UK and Scottish governments as evidence to inform decision making and plans regarding the introduction of minimum unit pricing for alcohol.
