This innovative three-year MSc Midwifery course is now open to applications. The course will enable students to become a highly educated and skilled midwife who will deliver and progress evidenced-based research and holistic midwifery care to women and their families. By ensuring leadership is at the centre of the curriculum, we give you all the tools you need to qualify as a registered midwife with the potential for career development in several areas including management, leadership, consultancy, educational and research roles.

In preparation for practice as an autonomous midwife within the maternity services, our course will have an emphasis on active learning focusing on:

  • Developing Critical Thinking and developing expert knowledge
  • Personal and Professional Reflection
  • Research Awareness
  • Leadership – including qualification as a Professional Midwifery Advocate (currently a post-qualification course)
  • Education that is aligned to meet the UNICEF-UK Baby Friendly Initiative Standards
