Profile

In 2008 I completed the University of Sheffield Masters in Clinical Communication Studies and qualified as a Speech & Language Therapist (SLT).

My first clinical post was at a secure rehabilitation unit in Leeds working for the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust. I moved to a split community NHS post in Sheffield in 2010, working with people with neurodegenerative conditions and also as part of the community brain injury team. In 2018, I started working at a neurorehabilitation ward at the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield, where I continue to work as the lead SLT.

Alongside my clinical career, I have worked as a guest lecturer for the Department of Human Communication Sciences since 2019. I undertook a one-year Sheffield Teaching Hospitals Research Internship in 2022/23, funded by the Combined Community and Acute Care Group. This involved a project with Professor Patricia Cowell looking at assessments for cognitive-communication difficulties after Traumatic Brain Injury. This led to undertaking a PhD within the School of Allied Health Professionals, Nursing and Midwifery, which I started in October 2023.
