Kim Turner, a PhD student in the department and her colleagues at HM YOI Feltham have been awarded the Sternberg Award for Clinical Innovation by the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists . Kim, Dr Lewis, Governor Mo Foster from HM YOI Feltham and Clare Hughes from the National Autistic Society have won the award for their project supporting autistic individuals in prison. HM YOI Feltham was the first prison in the UK to gain accreditation from the National Autistic Society. The accreditation was presented by the Prisons Minister who encouraged all prisons to follow Feltham’s lead.
The RCSLT offer two clinical innovation awards each year for new and novel clinical activities, and carry a prize of £1,000.
