Tongji Delegation visiting IICD
Several members of staff from Infection, Immunity and Cardiovascular Disease were involved in a visit from Tongji University in China on Wednesday 6 and Thursday 7 April 2016.
The visit was led by the Dean of the Medical School at Tongji University to establish additional collaborations with the Faculty of Medicine in Sheffield. The delegation met Principal Investigators Professor Alison Condliffe, Professor Ian Sabroe and Dr Allan Lawrie as well as Professor Chris Newman (FDRI), Dr Martina Daly (Faculty PGR Lead) and Professor Sheila Francis, Head of IICD.
Central to the visit was the opportunity for the visitors to meet with the two PGR students who are part of the joint PhD programme in pulmonary hypertension, Mr Jianhui Lin and Mr Hongda Zhang. Mr Jianhui Lin undertakes study at Tongji University as part of his PhD and Hongda Zhang is based at Tongji University but undertaking some studies in Sheffield. The students are supervised jointly by Dr Lawrie and Professor Zhi-Cheng Jing (Tongji). The delegation also met Professor David Kiely, Head of the Sheffield Pulmonary Vascular Unit and his team and he led a tour for the visitors to meet staff and patients.
