Welcome to the Medical Electives Programme
There are currently three placements per month available through the University of Sheffield elective programme.
The University of Sheffield and the Sheffield Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (STH) are offering three elective placements per month to undergraduate medical students in their clinical years of study. These placements are not for qualified junior doctors.
Placements will be in a variety of departments and will run for four weeks starting from the first Wednesday of each month. We are working closely with the STH to develop exciting and academically robust elective placements. The University of Sheffield Medical School will oversee the initial application process and then pass your application to the STH to complete the process.
Elective Placements are available as follows:
We have tried to provide as much information as possible on this website regarding elective placements here in Sheffield. Please use the links on the left side of the screen to view all the important information.
There is an administration fee of £300, which is to be paid after you have accepted the official placement offer from the University. This is not a tuition fee, it is to cover the cost of the administration required to process your application and the cost of your Occupational Health check.
If the information provided on this website doesn't answer your query, please contact either the University of Sheffield's Elective Office at email@example.com or Hayley Barlow (firstname.lastname@example.org) in the Medical Education Department of the STH.
Please note that current Sheffield MBChB students should not apply through this mechanism and should contact the Electives Coordinators, Casey Smallwood (email@example.com) or Jo Hill (firstname.lastname@example.org).
