LogoThe Vice-Chancellor's Fellows scheme

Professor Sir Keith Burnett, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sheffield, created the Vice-Chancellor’s Fellowship (VCF) scheme in 2013 to drive innovation and enhance our position at the forefront of academia. Individuals with research track records of the highest calibre were appointed to the scheme.

A key criterion for success was the capacity to make an outstanding contribution to the University of Sheffield as a research-led academic through bringing new fields of research to the university or by strengthening our existing portfolio. Our VCFs will become academic leaders of the future by inspiring others, acting as ambassadors, and engaging and collaborating across disciplinary boundaries within and beyond the university.

In 2015 the scheme was shortlisted for a Times Higher Education (THE) Award for Outstanding Contribution to Leadership Development.
