Festival of the Mind: It’s magic. And you’re all invited.
The Festival of the Mind is a celebration of ideas, culture and collaboration and it's open to everyone.
The University of Sheffield has teamed up with the city’s creative community to design a magical week of performances, talks, exhibitions and activities. These are mostly free to attend and run from the 20th to the 30th September 2012.
There will be over fifty events spanning exhibitions, magic shows, debates, film screenings and sonnet walks.
Come and see the ultimate racing car and the science behind a world record attempt; discover the secrets of Manor Lodge in a new play crafted by students and citizens; marvel at the splendiferous Spiegeltent and its Culture Club showcase!
Professor Keith Burnett, Vice Chancellor of the University of Sheffield commented: “Our University and our city are overflowing with ideas. Now, with Festival of the Mind, we have the perfect opportunity to come together and celebrate that.
The festival is the result of months of hard work and true collaboration between University staff and Sheffield’s vibrant creative community so I hope you’ll come along and take part in the celebrations. The Festival of the Mind promises to capture the spirit of invention and collaboration, the love of ideas that makes Sheffield such a wonderful place to live and work.”
