Our students tell us they feel at home the moment they arrived here. The department is based in the Elmfield building which offers you a peaceful, picturesque learning environment. It is within walking distance of the multi-award winning Students Union, Sheffield city centre and a whole host of museums and parks.

Attending the Sheffield open day largely contributed to my decision to study at the University. Having the opportunity to speak to staff from the Department of Sociological Studies, meet current students and explore Sheffield as a city provided me with a great insight into what it would be like to study and live in Sheffield.
