Class of 2023
This is Fiona, a General Engineering student who shares her thoughts on being part of the LGBT community; how her extracurricular activities have helped shape who she is; and how she is learning, with the right help, to cope with her struggles with anxiety - this is her story.

Watch: Fiona's story:

During my time at university I've had some mental health issues, specifically anxiety, but feeling a part of things, feeling settled in a place has really helped me with that. Also having support structures from friends to the University Support Services, directly to health services and the Disability and Dyslexia Support Services also deal with conditions like anxiety and other mental health issues, which I didn't realise when I came here and is actually really, really helpful. So it's been really instrumental to me working through and dealing with my anxiety and learning to cope with it and enjoying my time here and fulfilling the best of my potential as an engineer.
