Amelia Grigg

I recently graduated from Sheffield with a BSc in Biology. During my time here I tried lots of things I never would have done if I hadn’t gone to University, like joining the Beekeeping Society and becoming a trained beekeeper.

This ended up forming a huge part of my student experience, alongside Biology Society Netball. Societies like these, in combination with extensive field and lab-based research opportunities, made Sheffield a fantastic city to be a Biology student.

I’m over the moon to be staying in Sheffield for another year as a Student Recruitment Assistant with the Schools Liaison Team. I realised I had been taking part in student recruitment activities without even knowing it - working at open days, guiding campus tours and being a STEM and student ambassador.

I hope to assist more students in progressing to higher education, specifically focusing on supporting women into STEM and students from widening participation backgrounds, where preconceptions can create additional challenges in advancing to University. 

I know first-hand how daunting it can be, but the right information and support can make the process straightforward, and most importantly exciting!
