Description

How does money really work in society? Is £1 worth more now than £1 in a year's time? How does that translate into a business context? Explore the philosophical puzzle and fascinating world of intangible assets, and how management and accounting are interconnected.

Money Talks

The session will provide an explanation in simple terms of how money works in society, using pocket money as an example, and then leads on to the issue of time - a £1 now is worth more than £1 in a year's time. That enables us to think about how that principle works in business.

We will look at intangible assets, which - although based in accounting - becomes a philosophical puzzle, and has proved to be an interesting way to show the inter-connectivity of management & accounting themes.

This session is suitable for students in years 12 and 13.
