Shin Etsu PFMD GmbH

Shin-Etsu began producing pharmaceutical excipients in 1962. Since then, thanks to feedback from our customers and inspection by the FDA, we have further developed and improved our quality and control systems to high standards. Shin-Etsu's cellulose excipients can make a valuable contribution in various areas of pharmaceutical technology, for example as film coatings, binders and thickeners.

We will be exhibiting our L-HPC grade at forthcoming events. L-HPC is a dual-functionality excipient: binder and disintegrant. We have various particle sizes and shapes for your high shear, fluid bed and roller compaction processes. For more process conditions please come and visit our stand. We also supply low viscosity Hypromellose under the trade name Pharmacoat® which is widely used as a binder for granulation, and is available in various viscosity grades for granulation purposes. We will also be available at our stand for you to take a closer look at our new NBD grade for ODT tablets and direct compression.

To improve on our technical services we have now opened a new application laboratory for customer trials, and are now offering QbD samples for your development.

Innopharma labs

Seeing the Unseen

Innopharma Labs develop efficient, reliable and rapid direct measurement PAT analysers that support research, development and investigational experiments resulting in greater knowledge and more robust manufacturing processes. Innopharma Labs products provide high quality data and images to understand processes such as blending, granulation, roller compaction/milling, compression and packaging in greater detail helping to reduce time to generate experimental data, scale-up time and product losses resulting on improved yields.

Technologies:

On-Line/At-Line Real-time 3D Particle Characterisation
Eyecon™ is a non-invasive, real-time 3D particle characteriser capable of giving live particle size and shape information. It increases process understanding and subsequently control for granulation, milling, and spheronisation processes. Unique instrument features include:

  • non-product contact
  • on-line or at-line configuration
  • real time size & shape data & images
  • intuitive and user friendly interface
  • portable

Benchtop NIR Chemical Imaging

The Eyemap™ Is a high speed chemical imager designed to provide invaluable information on product make-up and ingredient distribution in a pharmaceutical PAT setting. Near Infrared Chemical Imaging (NIR-CI) combines the advantages of conventional IR and advanced optical imaging technology to give spatially resolved chemical analysis.

On-Line Real-Time Multi-point NIR Imaging

MultiEye™ combines the near-infrared chemical imaging of Eyemap™ with the valuable real-time process control features of Eyecon™, MultiEye™ provides a system for live monitoring of blend homogeneity on a chemical level. Using multiple single-point probes placed at different points within a blender, mixer or granulator, Multieye™ provides a live view of the concentrations of APIs and excipients at each location and to assist in detecting process end points. Other applications include precise monitoring of the moisture content within granulation processes, and the monitoring of ribbon density in roller compaction.

Alexanderwerk & Orthos Engineering

The Alexanderwerk Group specialise in the development and production of compaction and granulation machines for the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, to convert poor-flowing powders into free-flowing granules of higher density. Consequently:

  • Granular materials are more easily and accurately dosed (e. g. feeding into tablet presses)
  • Less dust occurs inside machines or working spaces; resulting in lower OEL’s and subsequent reduced health risks to operators. The noticeable reduction in dust also results in extended machine life of the final form machinery.
  • Solubility or dispersion rates are often improved by the formation of the compacted granulates.
  • Homogeneous distribution of the active substance.

With their WP 120 Pharma unit (as seen at University of Sheffield) Alexanderwerk offers a roller compactor specifically designed for use in R&D departments or small scale production. Even batches of as little as 5g can be processed on the WP 120 Pharma.
