Equality and inclusion
We are committed to supporting equality for people of all different belief identities.

At the University of Sheffield, we are aware that members of our student and staff communities have many different identities. That includes those who do have religion or belief identities, or multiple identities, alongside those who are atheist, agnostic or undecided.
We offer a clear commitment to support people in a non-discriminatory way. Whether you do or do not have a religion or belief identity, we want to provide a safe, inclusive and supportive environment to everyone.
We also will be responsive to anyone in the student or staff community who experiences any form of discrimination to do with religion or belief.
The University's policy is to treat all members of our community with dignity and respect, irrespective of 'Protected Characteristics', as defined by the Equality Act 2010.
Further details on our equality policies:
Religion or belief and the BNBR Life Centre
Activities, advice, advocacy and support are all offered by the BNBR Life Centre to any student or member of staff in a non-discriminatory way. This includes bereavement support, including peer-support grief groups.
Advisors are available from the world religions as well as for humanism, paganism and Unitarianism.
The chaplaincy actively supports creating safe and inclusive spaces including for those from LGBT+ communities and has its own inclusions policy.
Students' Union faith or belief societies

Hate incident reporting and zero tolerance
There is a clear reporting process for all university members if any hate incident, including on religion or belief grounds occurs and we are committed to a zero tolerance stance towards the perpetration of such incidents.
Accommodation, examinations, food, sport and timetabling
All these areas of provision at the university are being designed to provide equal access for all and there are specific commitments to good provision in each of these areas.
