Clinical training resumes at the School of Clinical Dentistry

Dental students being taught by a clinical lecturer

This week, we were delighted to welcome back our final year dental and second year hygiene and therapy undergraduate students to the School of Clinical Dentistry at the University of Sheffield to recommence their clinical training.

This follows the recent return of our PhD students to the laboratories to continue their critical oral health research.

Throughout the lockdown staff at the School have remained busy delivering online teaching and assessment, and a small number of academic and technical staff have remained on site to do pioneering research to understand how COVID19 infects the cells of the mouth, throat and nose, as well as providing support to local NHS trusts with their COVID19 testing efforts.

The School has also supported the NHS with staff and facilities to support the provision of dental care.

It is brilliant to see the students back in the School, their enthusiasm remains inspiring.
