Boon Kean is from Malaysia and has been awarded an undergraduate merit scholarship for the duration of his studies at EEE. He was also part of the winning team which competed in the Siemens SustainaCity Racer Competition. He shares his experiences of studying in Sheffield and why he thinks his team won.

Jacob Electrical and Electronic Engineering

After doing an apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering, Jacob decided he wanted his future to be in Electronic and Electrical Engineering. As a mature student (over 21 years of age) he was eligible to apply for, and was successful in his application for, the Thomas and Daisy Walker Scholarship which provides £3,000 a year for each year of the degree programme. He very kindly agreed to share his individual pathway to university and how the scholarship will help him make the most of his time with us.

Ellie chose to study with EEE due to her interest in how electronics in computer systems work and in her third year was elected as President of the department's student society EEE Soc.

My advice to students considering EEE is to DO IT!

Mekhola Electrical and Electronics Engineering with a Year in Industry (MEng)

Mekhola chose to study EEE after an internship sparked her interest in all things electronic and electrical which has led to her position as a Graduate engineer at ARM. While at University she enjoyed a year's placement at Rolls Royce and was awarded the Frank Benson prize for her involvement in promoting STEM in outreach activities.
