Library services for visitors
Welcome to The University of Sheffield Library!
As a major contributor to the overall network of information and Library services in the Sheffield area, the University Library welcomes those outside the University who have a genuine need to use materials and services not available in other local libraries.
All visitors to Western Bank Library are required to apply for an External Borrower Ucard (fees may be charged) or an External Reader Ucard. Please click on the relevant link under access and membership details below.
If you visit Western Bank Library in person without an External Borrower/Reader Ucard, a Temporary Library card can be issued while your application for a Ucard is processed.
If visiting The Health Sciences Library, Royal Hallamshire Hospital, a day pass may be obtained for the day and at The Main Reception in The Diamond for access to Library Connect.
Please note, borrower membership of the library is restricted to persons over the age of 18. Young people aged 16 and 17 must first register as External Readers and parental consent will be required prior to registration. (Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult when visiting the Library)
