Instrumentation:

Agilent Technologies 6530 Accurate Mass LC-MS QToF

The Agilent 6530 Accurate-Mass Quadrupole Time-of-Flight (Q-TOF) LC/MS system features a dual-nebulizer ESI source for significantly improved sensitivity. The instrument can run experiments in both +ve and -ve mode electrospray ionisation (ESI), at high resolution for accurate mass measurements and additionally in MS/MS mode for identification and quantitation of analytes. There is an interchangeable atmospheric pressure chemical ionisation (APCI) source for the analysis of non-polar and highly insoluble samples.

Waters LCT Premier Solids Probe Analysis (ASAP)

The waters LCT Premier instrument ionises samples by passing a stream of heated nitrogen gas over the sample to vaporise it and transfer it to the corona discharge needle for ionisation. It is very sensitive and amenable to low polarity samples not easily analysed by other available techniques such as ESI, LC-MS and GC-MS. Both pure and complex mixtures can be analysed by the technique.

Waters G2 Synapt MALDI-ToF

The Waters G2 Synapt instrument is available for chemMS users through biOMICS, our sister mass spec facility. It analyses samples by matrix assisted laser desorption ionisation (MALDI) with high sensitivity and mass accuracy. The mass range is from 50 to 100 000 Daltons and is particularly useful for synthetic polymers and organometallic compounds. This instrument may also be used in ESI mode.

Waters LCT Classic LC-MS

Waters LCT Classic LC-MS instrument

The Waters LCT Classic instrument analyses samples in both positive and negative ESI modes, it can be used as a liquid chromatography mass spectrometer (LC-MS ) or in direct infusion mode for dilute samples, samples requiring specific tuning parameters and samples unsuitable for reverse phase liquid chromatography.

Perkin Elmer Turbomass GC-MS

The Perkin Elmer Turbomass instrument is an open access, low resolution gas chromatography mass spectrometer used to analyse both polar and non-polar volatile mixtures. It can be used for both qualitative and quantitative analyses.
