Visiting the NFCA

Reading room

The Reading Room is open to everyone with eight study spaces, two computers and a seating area for visitors wishing to browse our books and journals.

Opening Hours

Monday to Wednesday: 9:30am - 4:30pm (closed for lunch 1pm - 2pm)
Thursday: visits by appointment only (dependent on staff availability)
Friday to Sunday: Closed

Booking your Visit

Although our reading room is open to all ‘walk-in’ visitors we highly recommend advanced bookings. This will enable us to provide you with relevant research material, retrieve collections and book any necessary equipment.
It is highly recommended that you book a computer if you wish to use our specialist websites and electronic resources
Microfilm and Microfiche readers must be booked in advance.
Video equipment must be booked in advance.

  • Please bring a form of photographic identification with you to present at the Library information desk in order to obtain a pass into the library
  • Please be respectful of other users and switch your mobile phones to silent mode
