These permits are issued to those who score highest through our needs based criteria.

If you do not wish to pay monthly via salary, a pay by phone option is available (see below). The same criteria apply for each permit.

Payment will be via Connect Pay By Phone cashless parking online. You will be able to pay by phone, app or online. Users should choose how long they need when they park (options include 4 hours, one day, one week or one month).

To use the pay as you go service you must first have been issued one of these permits. Details of how to pay will be issued upon successful application.

Disabled

Disabled permit holders may use any A, B or R car park and have exclusive use of disabled bays.

Permits are issued to those with a current blue badge.

Permits may be issued for temporary periods with compelling evidence from a doctor, Occupational Health/Student Services, usually to support a return to work or studies after illness/injury.

There is no permit charge for blue badge holders. Temporary permits will be charged in line with Category B rates.

On Call Permit

This permit is for staff who are required to access the university out of hours on an ‘on call’ basis.

Evenings/Weekends (Students)

This permit enables students to park in the evenings and at the weekend in the following car parks:

Arts Tower, Upper Hanover Street, Hounsfield Road, Bartolome House, Geography, Mappin Street and Barber House.

Discounted parking for staff in multi-storey car parks

University staff are eligible for discounted parking in the NCP on Solly Street (S1 4DE) and the Q-Park on Durham Road (S10 2JA). Follow the guidance below to arrange this:

University staff and students can park in NCP Solly Street for a discounted price of £3.50 per day. The following instructions explain how to sign up for this:

  • Download the ParkPass app from Apple or Google Play store
  • Add your name, mobile number and vehicle details
  • During the registration process, enter the Saver ID code: AUN6X4LD
  • Complete the registration by adding card details and setting a secure pin.

Please note, this is a popular car park and there is currently a waiting list for discounted staff permits.

University staff and students can park in Q-Park Durham Road for a discounted price of £7.00 per day.
