Research interests

In my research, I investigate the neural mechanisms of action of pharmacological interventions for ADHD. Specifically, I am interested in how these drugs manipulate serotonin transmission in order to alter the signal-to-noise ratio in subcortical attention systems. Our current work aims to identify potential candidate drugs that mimic the mechanism of current ADHD drugs, whilst providing a safer profile of side effects.

I am also involved in projects which aim to understand how interneuron expression in the basal ganglia may underpin certain behaviour changes that are hallmarks of ASD.

Teaching activities

I teach on the following modules within the department of Psychology:

  • PSY1003 Neuroscience and Clinical Psychology I
  • PSY303 Neural Bases of Learning and Development (Module Organiser)
  • PSY331 Extended Essay in Psychology
  • PSY346 Research Project in Psychology
  • PSY6424 Neuroimaging Techniques (Module Organiser)

I am a member of the Psychology Education Committee, the undergraduate exams board, and the staff students committee
