Description

The Department of Economics is delighted to announce that the inaugural Perraton Lecture will be given by Torsten Bell from the Resolution Foundation. Torsten is the Chief Executive of the Resolution Foundation. He has a background in economic policy, with a current research focus on how to renew the UK’s economic strategy to raise growth and reduce inequality. Prior to leading the Resolution Foundation, Torsten worked in HM Treasury, as a member of the Council of Economic Advisers during the financial crisis, and as Director of Policy for the Labour Party.

Torsten Bell, will be presenting findings related to the Economy 2030 Inquiry – Ending Stagnation – Shaping a Decade of Change.

The Department of Economics has introduced the annual Perraton lecture to honour our colleague – Dr Jonathan Perraton – who sadly died in May 2023. Jonathan was a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Economics and a member of staff at the University of Sheffield between 1995 and 2023.
