Angela Wright

A profile of Professor Angela Wright.

Off

Professor Angela Wright was appointed lecturer in Romantic Literature at The University of Sheffield in 2002, became a senior lecturer in 2010 and was promoted to a personal chair in Romantic Literature in 2015.

Angela's interests lie in literature published between the 1760s and 1820s and her publications have come broadly from the interactions between the Gothic and Romantic modes during these decades, both in Britain and in France.

In Mary Shelley, Angela Wright reappraises the significance of Frankenstein, alongside others of Shelley’s works, in order to display the significance and fluctuating meanings of the Gothic style during the Romantic period.

She offers fresh scholarly readings of both the 1818 and 1831 editions of Frankenstein, as well as chapters upon the fiction that Shelley composed between editions and later in the 1830s.
