Established in 1986, Sheffield University Management School is in the global elite of business schools worldwide, having been awarded Triple Crown accreditation by the three most influential accreditation bodies – AMBA, EQUIS and AACSB. This places us in the leading one per cent of business schools in the world.
We are the largest department in the Faculty of Social Sciences at the prestigious University of Sheffield, a Russell Group institution renowned for its world-leading research and excellence in learning and teaching.
As a complement to our cutting-edge knowledge and courses, the Management School moved to a newly refurbished building in 2013. Its facilities, which are close to the Students’ Union and Sheffield city centre, act as a dynamic hub which will stimulate study, thought and the proactive exchange of ideas. They are designed to benefit students in their taught and independent study at every level.
Research and teaching
The Management School has a research-led academic/teaching staff. Students benefit from being taught by individuals at the top of their field. Recent research is integrated into teaching so you are always subject to the most up-to-date knowledge and skills.
Sheffield University Management School has seen significant development in the last five years. The School improved its research output and quality over the last decade, moving from 23rd position in 2004 to 14th in 2014 (Research Excellence Framework 2014). Eighty-one per cent of our research is considered world leading or internationally excellent, and we are top five in the Russell Group for Research Impact.
The Management School is closely aligned with the corporate world. To ensure our ongoing relevance and that of our students, we regularly consult with our Advisory Board.
Through academic research we are investigating global challenges in collaboration with businesses and organisations, identifying socially-responsible and sustainable solutions. Our published research is applicable and is often translated into workshops and toolkits which business leaders can put into action.
Students have ready access to organisations. Real-world business scenarios and live challenges are often integrated into modules which also welcome guest lecturers from industry. The Employability Hub, located at the heart of the School, is a drop-in space designed for students to easily access opportunities to increase their employability. From workshops to placements and internships, company projects, international summer schools and information on professional accreditations, this is a valuable resource available exclusively to Management School students.
The Management Gateway is a website which hosts information on how businesses can benefit from working with the Management School, the services available for students, our up-coming events and benefits for alumni.
