Triple Crown accreditation

We achieved Triple Crown accreditation in 2012 from AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS which we are incredibly proud to have maintained. This Triple Crown accreditation places us in the global elite of business and management schools and is a mark of quality for the excellent teaching, outstanding research, support for students and alumni, and links with industry that we deliver.

AACSB accredited

AACSB International (AACSB), a global nonprofit association founded in 1916, provides quality assurance, business education intelligence, and learning and development services to over 1,850 member organisations and more than 950 accredited business and management schools worldwide.

AACSB accreditation is known, worldwide, as the longest-standing, most recognised form of specialised accreditation that an institution and its business programmes can earn. Accreditation is a voluntary, non governmental process that includes a rigorous external review of a school’s mission, faculty qualifications, curricula and ability to provide the highest-quality programmes.

EQUIS accredited

Founded in 1972, EQUIS (EFMD Quality Improvement System) is the leading international system of quality assessment, improvement and accreditation of business and management schools.

EQUIS accreditation is an indicator of high quality in all dimensions of a school’s activities with particular focuses on internationalisation, academic quality, ethics, responsibility and sustainability (ERS), and effective interaction with the corporate world.

AMBA accredited

The Association of MBAs (AMBA) established its vision in 1967 and is the global standard for all MBA and masters degrees, currently accrediting programmes from the top 2 per cent of business and management schools in over 75 countries.

AMBA’s rigorous accreditation criteria is centred on impact, employability and learning outcomes, and ensures that only programmes demonstrating the highest standards in teaching, learning and curriculum design, career development and employability, and student, alumni and employer interaction achieve AMBA accreditation.

Sheffield University Management School has AMBA accreditation for its MBA and MSc Management programmes. The accreditation means that students can feel confident that they will receive high quality provision and that their qualification will have international recognition and value. AMBA is also the only professional membership association that connects MBA students and graduates, accredited schools and MBA employers throughout the world.


Professional Association accreditations

Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA), Certified Practicing Accounts Australia (CPA Australia) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW)

Our undergraduate BA Accounting and Financial Management is accredited and approved by five major professional bodies: ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA, CPA Australia and ICAEW. Membership of a professional body is essential to a career in accounting and finance and graduates will be eligible for exemptions from professional qualifications from these bodies.

In addition, our BA Accounting and Financial Management and Economics dual programme is accredited and approved by: ACCA, CIMACPA Australia and ICAEW.

Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA)

In addition to our undergraduate BA Accounting and Financial Management, both our undergraduate BA Business Management and The Sheffield MBA are accredited by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). Graduates will gain exemptions towards the CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting and the CIMA Professional Qualification at the Operational Level.

Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)

In addition to our undergraduate BA Accounting and Financial Management, both our MSc Accounting, Governance and Financial Management and MSc Finance and Accounting are accredited by Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). Membership of a professional body is essential to a career in accounting and finance and graduates will be eligible for exemptions from professional qualifications from ACCA.

Chartered Management Institute (CMI)

The Sheffield MBA, as well as our MSc ManagementMSc International Management and MSc Management (International Business) are accredited by the Chartered Management Institute and are equivalent to CMI's Level 7 Certificate in Strategic Management and Leadership. Students will have the option to become student members of CMI during their studies, which gives them access to additional support via study materials, the biggest management library in Europe, easy access to research and industry experts, an extensive specialised job board and the CMI magazine. Graduates will be eligible to advance their CMI membership to Chartered Manager status.

Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD)

The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) are the premier professional HR body in the UK and our MSc Human Resource Management with CIPD Pathway maps and aligns to the core knowledge and core behavioural membership standards of the CIPD Profession Map at Chartered level. Graduates with an active CIPD Student membership will be awarded Associate membership upon completion of their programme. Membership gives students access to networking opportunities and key contacts which will benefit their future careers.

Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT)

Our MSc Logistics and Supply Chain Management is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT). Graduates of this masters programme can work towards becoming a Chartered Member of this established professional body.

Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS)

Our MSc Logistics and Supply Chain Management also has accreditation from the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS). CIPS is the premier global organisation serving the procurement and supply profession. Graduates from our programme are eligible for full membership of the Institute after they have gained three years’ relevant professional experience.

The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM)

The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) is the leading professional body for marketers worldwide and exists to develop the marketing profession, maintain professional standards and improve the skills of marketing practitioners. The University of Sheffield has joined forces with CIM to give students the opportunity to gain professional qualifications through the CIM’s Accredited Degree partnership and graduates will be eligible for exemptions from CIM qualifications at both the Certificate and Diploma levels. CIM qualifications are highly sought after by employers and map alongside our own degrees, ensuring we are equipping students with the best opportunities for a successful marketing career.

The CIM accredits the following programmes: MSc International Management and Marketing; and MSc Marketing Management Practice.

British Psychological Society (BPS)

Our MSc Occupational Psychology is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) with graduates deemed to have met stage one of the requirements for Chartered Membership of the Society (CPsychol) and full membership of the Division of Occupational Psychology.

The Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) is a United Nations-supported initiative founded in 2007.
