Sheffield's philosophy department is a fabulously welcoming and friendly bunch of people, and that's what makes working here really special. Colleagues are super interested in each other's projects, the professional staff are an incredible engine of knowledge and support and efficiency, postgraduates are given loads of opportunities to encourage and develop their ideas and their standing in the subject, and there's a deep concern to involve students in decision-making and to give them a stimulating and creatively-rich environment to get stuck into philosophy. It's striking how everyone pulls together to help follow a shared sense of purpose, and how much people value each other's talents and contributions.
