Student Wellbeing and Welfare
The University is here to support you. It is not just your education that is our priority, we also care about your wellbeing.
Sometimes circumstances, which are outside your control, may have an impact on your studies. This is why we have provisions in place to help you through such times.
Students must let their School (or Schools if they are a dual student) know as soon as possible if there are any special situations that may affect their attendance, ability to study, or complete assessments. It is preferable for a student to inform the School as soon as possible and by the deadlines which are set each semester and published by email and in the Student Handbook.
A student should contact their Personal Tutor and submit an Extenuating Circumstances Form (ECF) with supporting evidence via email to econsupport@sheffield.ac.uk, in order to bring their circumstances and the impact they have caused to the attention of the examiners.
The University’s extenuating circumstances policy and the Extenuating Circumstance Form (ECF) can be downloaded online.
