Damon's PhD was on the subject of wage inequality in the UK. The first chapter looked at how this has changed over the last 40 years and how the use of different measures of inequality affects the way we perceive it. The second chapter examined the role of changes in educational attainment in changes in inequality and the third chapter looked at the relationship between wage inequality and firm performance. Damon completed a project in 2015 as a researcher into the executive labour market.
His research interests are in areas of applied microeconomics, mainly in the fields of labour economics and economics of the firm. Most of Damon's research has been on the topic of wage inequality during his PhD and is an area which still in development, and he's also interested in the adjustment of the labour market during the recent recession and recovery.
