Logging in
To log into your University IT account, follow the steps below. Or get further guidance if you are using high performance computing.
Step 1
Go to MUSE and enter your University username and password in the usual way. Select 'log in'.
Step 2
Select 'send me a push' or 'enter a passcode'. This will depend on the option you chose when you set up MFA.
Passcodes let you log into your account even when your device is without an internet connection.
Step 3
If you selected 'send me a push' in step 2, check your Duo Mobile app on your phone or tablet. Select 'approve to authenticate'.
If you selected 'enter a passcode' in step 2:
- Check your Duo Mobile app on your phone or tablet – open the app and select 'show' to get a one-time passcode. Type the passcode into the space provided on the Duo prompt and select 'Log in'.
or
- Press the button on your hardware token to generate a new passcode. Type the passcode into the space provided on the Duo prompt and select 'Log in'.
'Remember me for 7 days'
You can minimise the number of times you need to log in with Duo, by using 'Remember me for 7 days'.
If you have automatic Duo Push enabled, select the following:
- 'Send me a push'
- 'Cancel' (at the bottom of the page)
- 'Remember me for 7 days' (tick box).
If you do not have Duo Push enabled, simply select the 'Remember me for 7 days' tick box before you log in.
'Remember me for 7 days' does not work if you are using VPN. Find out what else prevents 'Remember me' from working.
Received an unexpected push notification?
If you receive a push notification but you haven't tried to log in, your password may have been compromised. Someone may be trying to log in to your University IT account.
You should deny the request and report it to the IT Service Desk immediately.
