Best in show for alumni Victoria

Victoria Wade, former student of the Department of Landscape, has won Best in Show for her garden at the RHS Flower Show Cardiff.

Victoria’s Alfresco garden was designed to demonstrate how a small space can be both beautiful and productive. The Gold medal winning garden reflected Victoria’s passion for cooking home-grown produce outdoors and featured vegetables, fruit and even a couple of pet chickens for eggs. This is Victoria’s second RHS Gold, having previously scooped the top prize at the 2013 RHS show and a Silver Gilt in 2014.

Victoria said: “we were chuffed to bits to win another Gold and to win Best in Show was the icing on the cake. We had so much fun building the garden this year and it went down really well with visitors, the chickens especially were the stars of the show. Our contractors are now in the process of re-building the garden at our house, and we're looking forward to getting the pizza oven up and running!”

Having graduated from the MA in Landscape Architecture in 2012, Victoria has gone on to build a successful garden design practice in Penarth, Cardiff.

Of her time in Sheffield she said: “my experience of studying Landscape Architecture at Sheffield was absolutely fantastic. Everything I learnt on the MA course has given me an amazing grounding for my career, and the support and encouragement I received from my lecturers gave me the confidence I needed to start up my own business.”
