New book! Published by White Rose University Press, 320 rue St Jacques: the diary of Madeleine Blaess is a translation of the Occupation diaries of a Sheffield academic by Wendy Michallat, Head of French Studies at the University of Sheffield.
Madeleine Blaess survived the war and went on to lecture at the University of Sheffield for forty years. After her death, she donated her archive to the University, where it remains in the care of the University Library’s Special Collections Department. Translated into English for the first time, with introductory chapters and annotations, the diary can be read and downloaded for free through the White Rose University Press website.
Please note that information about the University's Administrative Archives can be found on the University Archives web pages.
