Member of The Dean's List, class of 2020

Aidan’s natural aptitude for teaching and inspiring others stood out among all of his achievements during his studies. He also showed commitment to his chosen career of founding a TEFL Recruitment Agency and has worked tremendously hard to achieve his goal.

Career aspirations

Completing a summer placement at HAYS Recruitment Consultancy, Aidan not only gained real insight into the recruitment industry but also took on the challenge to lead the Construction and Property Blue Collar department, a challenge he enjoyed and succeeded at in leaps and bounds.

Determined to develop his industry skills and knowledge further, he completed the TEFL 150 Hour Master Course and worked as a TEFL Teacher tutoring a Chinese school student alongside his studies.

Aidan ensured he gained a breadth of experience across areas including social media marketing, sales and marketing, contributing to various campaigns for companies including Creed, Givenchy, Jabra, Deliveroo, Sky, FLOC, Bubble Student and LG.

Using his knowledge and skills gained form his employability experiences Aidan was able to realise his goal and successfully launched his new venture, TEFL recruitment agency ‘LUNA English.'

Helping others

Having completed the TEFL teaching course, Aidan took it upon himself to help a friend through the programme. It’s safe to say his help paid off, as his friend successfully passed the course, and through his new venture LUNA English, Aidan worked to help find him students in China to teach under the TEFL programme.

As an active member of the University’s DJ Society and as the Events and Social Media Manager for In The Deep, Aidan utilised his connections to provide other DJs with opportunities to play at local venues as well as teaching them fundamental techniques to improve their own DJ-ing skills.

Contributing to the third sector

Taking on the role of Team Leader for the National Citizen Service, Aidan embarked on a mission to inspire 60 young adults to grow into socially responsible, confident, and proactive members of the community.

As well as taking the general lead role for all 60 members, he led his own smaller team of 15 young adults. He organised and guided members through activities including caving, abseiling, rock climbing, political and sexual education lessons, charity fundraising, and social action projects. After gaining so much fulfilment from the role, Aidan and his team went on to raise much needed funds for the charity, Door 43, a service offering support to 13–25-year-olds with a range of emotional wellbeing issues.
