Jennifer established an incredible portfolio of employability achievements and contributions to her community throughout her studies.

A professional outlook

During her internship at Lockheed Martin in the Marketing and Communications team, Jennifer utilised her skills and position, taking the initiative to improve employee engagement activities to help boost morale. Her professional and creative approach impressed the leadership team so much, she was recognised for her “Outstanding Performance.”

Jennifer’s placement year at Lockheed Martin helped her develop specialist skills and experience, helping her secure a part time role in her final year as Communications and Marketing Manager for PyroTalks, a start-up company which provides training to not-for-profits.

Making the most out of international opportunities, Jennifer was the only undergraduate of her summer school cohort to gain an Entrepreneurship Summer School scholarship at the University of Twente.

Community spirit

Jennifer has a clear passion for helping others, which is reflected in the breadth of committee roles she successfully held during her degree.

She was Events Officer for the Societies Committee and Management Departmental Councillor on the Students’ Union Council. During her roles as President and then Inclusions Officer of the Stitch Society, she promoted the benefits of sustainability by organising upcycling workshops for society members, and organised events for “Charity Month” to raise awareness and support for a range of different charities and causes.

Volunteering

During the difficult times of the COVID-19 pandemic Jennifer volunteered as a ‘Check in and Chat’ NHS Responder, being a point of contact for individuals who were isolating or unable to leave the house during the pandemic.

As well as being invaluable in providing vulnerable people with much needed company and support during those difficult times, she demonstrated her ability to be able to think on her feet during challenging situations.

Next steps for Jennifer

Jennifer was successful in securing a graduate position as Communications and Engagement Graduate for High Speed Two (HS2), which she began in September 2021 after completing her BA degree.

Following her graduation, Jennifer's paper on 'Factors Impacting Work-Related Well-Being' was recognised as Highly Commended in the Global Undergraduate Awards 2021.
