Wael gained a Master in Finance and Accounting and a PhD in Management Studies, both from Brunel University London. Before joining the University of Sheffield, Wael taught (accounting and quantitative methods modules) at different universities including Damascus University, Bucks New University, Brunel University London and the University of Liverpool in its online programme.
Wael is currently involved in teaching MGT102 Introduction to Management Accounting, MGT6152 Management Accounting, and he is the module leader for the third year undergraduate MGT354 Advances in Management Accounting. MGT354 brings students up-to-date on the development and discussion in the management accounting field.
Wael is a member of the CRAFiC Research Centre and his current research interest lies in understanding the role management accounting systems, such as ABC and lean accounting, can play in modern operational environments. In addition, Wael has a developing interest in supply chain accounting and social responsibility, and is willing to supervise PhD students with similar research interest.
