Angie Hobbs, Professor for the Public Understanding of Philosophy, was on BBC Four programme ‘Genius of the Modern World: Marx’ on 16th June 2016.

Angie was a programme developer for the ‘Genius’ series on German and Austrian thought, and was particularly involved in helping shape the programme on Marx. Angie is interviewed by Bettany Hughes, series presenter, in the Musee des Instruments de Musique in Brussels. Angie discussed Marx’s theories ranging from his belief that economic organization and control of the means of production is the main driving force in history to why he thought healthy human relationships were impossible in a capitalist system.

The series reviews goes on to review the lives of Frederick Nietzsche and Sigmund Freud in the next episodes.
