Professor Sue Sherman joined the School of Psychology at the University of Sheffield in August 2024. Her inaugural lecture will be about human papillomavirus (HPV) and the ~5% of cancers it causes. Sue will discuss her ongoing research which explores the barriers and facilitators to HPV vaccination and cervical screening uptake.
Sue’s work frequently focuses on inequalities in uptake, and she will talk about her National Institute for Health and Care Research funded project “Improving access to cervical screening for physically Disabled people”.
Sue will also discuss future directions for her HPV research. Her talk is framed by her own experience as a patient and insights into her life and academic career.
