Description

What is urban studies and planning? Join this session to find out. Explore the role of planning in creating healthier cities and sharing ideas on how planners can make a huge difference to people’s health and wellbeing through creating safe, sustainable cities that prioritise people. Plus, speak to our students.

Planning the healthy city

Join this session to explore the role of planning in making better urban places. We'll introduce the department and discuss: 'what is urban studies and planning all about?', then share ideas on how planners can work to create healthier cities for all of us in a group work exercise.

As part of this exercise, you'll consider how planning can impact upon people’s physical and mental health and wellbeing through housing, the provision of active travel infrastructure, access to green space and the creation of connected, inclusive and accessible places and spaces.

There’ll also be time at the end of the session to talk with student ambassadors, who can answer any questions you may have about studying urban studies and planning with us.

This session is suitable for students in years 12 and 13.
