Profile

Biographical sketch

I completed my PhD in the protein and nucleic acid biochemistry lab at The University of Sheffield where my work involved studying the mechanism of DNA methylation.

My project involved exploring the structure and function relationship of bacterial cytosine specific DNA methyltransferases.

Following my PhD research I subsequently worked as postdoctoral research associate and focused my research work on cytochrome P450 C17. My further postdoctoral training established my expertise in Tap-tag protein purification system using yeast as model organism.

My role

I have developed my skills in teaching and training molecular biology laboratory techniques. I had established a training course for the induction of overseas PhD students in the department.

My current role in the department is working as MSc Course coordinator for Molecular Biology and Biotechnology that involve running laboratory practical sessions, giving lectures and supervising their research projects.

Other undergraduate teaching commitments include lecturing in modules, demonstrating practical classes, tutorials and leading third-year students for their research projects. I have also organised short training courses and workshops in the department as well as abroad to educate, train and disseminate different techniques.
