Coronavirus: A message from Vice-Chancellor Koen Lamberts

A statement from our President & Vice-Chancellor, Koen Lamberts.

Professor Koen Lamberts - President & Vice-Chancellor

The Coronavirus (COVID-19) has had a devastating impact and continues to affect communities across the world. We know that our students, partners and alumni from China have felt the effects most acutely.

There are around 6000 students from China studying at the University of Sheffield. We also have strong partnerships with Chinese universities and an active alumni network in and around China.

Our Chinese students, alumni and partners make a very positive contribution to the University of Sheffield’s research, vibrancy and knowledge exchange and we want to let all of our Chinese community know that we are offering all the support we can during this very difficult time.

We know that many of our Chinese students, staff and partners, based in Sheffield or China, have concerns about how the Coronavirus may affect their families, their friendships, their studies or their work. If you would like to be in touch with the University about the type of support available to you then please contact support@sheffield.ac.uk

The University is working closely with Public Health England (PHE) to follow and share the latest advice about Coronavirus (COVID-19). Students living in the UK can follow the advice from PHE here.

Our University and the city of Sheffield truly value our Chinese students and residents. Our thoughts are with everyone impacted by the Coronavirus and we look forward to supporting you all and continuing our strong ties.
