Zoonia was an international student from Pakistan and found Sheffield a global and friendly city.

Why did you choose to study at the University of Sheffield?

Being an international student, I wanted to go to a university that accepts and promotes cultural diversity. The University of Sheffield definitely does that and ensures every student is valued no matter where they are from.

Sheffield as a city is a wonderful place to study and live, and is truly a global city where everyone is so friendly and the overall aura of the city makes you feel at home.

One of the best things about the campus is its proximity to the city centre, which makes me feel like I actually live in Sheffield rather than the outskirts.

BSc Economics

Why did you choose to study a BSc Economics?

I started studying Economics in A-Levels and thought it was a very interesting subject. I find that Economics is particularly relevant to the modern world; everything you see is about Economics. So, having the opportunity to be able to learn about it and understand what’s going on in the wider world is something I didn’t want to miss.

I opted for BSc Economics rather than BA because I’ve always enjoyed maths and was looking to build on my technical and analytical skills.

What do you think about the campus and the learning environment at the University of Sheffield?

Sheffield’s brand new, state-of-the-art facilities have made a massive impact on my whole university experience. Access to places like the Diamond and the Information Commons has made my time much more convenient and enjoyable. There is also a great range of study spaces, which have particularly been helpful during the exam season.

One of the best things about the campus is its proximity to the city centre, which makes me feel like I actually live in Sheffield rather than the outskirts.
