Experiencing life and education abroad was one of my biggest dreams, but that was all I thought it would remain; a dream. Leaving my hometown and Greece in general, felt very challenging, if not terrifying, at the time. However, the University of Sheffield seemed to be a perfect fit. Not only was it one of the highest ranked universities worldwide, but the MSc Human and Molecular Genetics was exactly what I was looking for. As a graduate, I can confidently admit that studying at the University of Sheffield was one of the best decisions of my life. Notably, Sheffield is the ideal place for experiencing student life on its fullest and for making everlasting multicultural friendships.

This MSc undeniably helped me secure a job as a Research Assistant in Cell Guidance Systems, one of the most innovative biotech companies located in Cambridge. My experience in human chromosome preparation and analysis was a key factor for my current position since providing karyotype service is one of my major roles.

MSc Human and Molecular Genetics

The masters was well-structured; the taught courses made me comprehend deeper aspects of genetics and molecular biology, while the research project encouraged the formulation of scientific hypotheses, critical thinking, cooperation and lab-related troubleshooting. Moreover, the partnership with the Sheffield Diagnostic Genetics Service (SDGS), gave us the opportunity to apply for placements in the Sheffield Children’s hospital and interact with lead scientists of the field.

Furthermore, this MSc undeniably helped me secure a job as a Research Assistant in Cell Guidance Systems, one of the most innovative biotech companies located in Cambridge. My experience in human chromosome preparation and analysis was a key factor for my current position since providing karyotype service is one of my major roles. Meanwhile, I am working on the development and optimisation of pioneering products that aim to give life to ideas once thought unfeasible.
