As a biomedical science student, you'll learn in lots of different ways. In lectures, top scientists will introduce you to key concepts and the latest research findings, and in small group tutorials, you'll work through scientific problems and improve your analytical abilities with supportive staff.

You'll also learn by doing, with a big chunk of your week devoted to practical sessions, and research projects to work on once you've learned the essentials. This is designed to give you lots of hands-on skills and experience to put on your CV.

Human anatomy

We're one of the only universities in the UK to offer undergraduate students the opportunity to perform cadaveric dissection. Later in your degree, you can apply this knowledge to forensic science, covering topics including facial reconstruction, forensic anthropology, DNA fingerprinting and weapons analysis.

To offer an insight into some of our anatomy teaching, Dr Katherine Linehan has developed an online course, based on a real-life mystery of a body in a bag.
