Statistics with Financial Mathematics MSc
Following her studies in Saudi Arabia, Fatimah came to Sheffield where she was met by a supportive community within the School of Mathematics.

I graduated in Mathematics (with distinction) from the King Faisal University in Saudi Arabia. I thought that a Masters degree would help me to develop myself as a mature researcher and that studying abroad would help me to learn a new language and culture.

I chose Sheffield as it was recommended by friends who had already studied at the university.

I learnt how to study independently and how to manage time.

Statistics with Financial Mathematics MSc

At first I studied English language at the English Language Teaching Centre at the University of Sheffield. I started my Master degree in Statistics and Financial Mathematics.

The course was not easy, but I really enjoyed working with my classmates. Though I was sometimes stressed because of the amount of work to do, the teaching staff were really helpful and encouraging.

After the MSc I started a PhD program in Bayesian experimental design in health economics in the same department. The MSc course was good preparation for my PhD - I learnt how to study independently and how to manage time.
