To celebrate our first year since launch and cementing our reputation as one of the leading Q-Step Centres the Sheffield Methods Institute are hosting a half conference bringing together the latest expertise and research in teaching quantitative methods in social sciences.
Renowned scholars from the quantitative methods field lead by John McInnes, ESRC Strategic Advisor on Quantitative Methods Training will be discussing their experiences and latest innovations in QM teaching - followed by a panel discussion looking at the strategies to ensure a future direction of the discipline.
The free conference will include talks about pedagogical innovation from Dr Goldring and Julie Scott Jones from Manchester Metropolitian University, an introduction to using R to teach statistics by Andrew Beckerman from The University of Sheffield and a discussion on future strategies intoduced by Teresa Williams, Director of Social Research and Policy from Nuffield Foundation.
The conference will be followed by a drinks reception hosted by SMI Director, Gwilym Pryce to celebrate the institute's achievements made in the first year since it was launched in September 2015 as part of the £19.5M Q-Step Programme funded by the Nuffield Foundation, ESRC and HEFCE.
