Informing us of your results

We require all applicants to provide evidence of the qualifications upon which the offer of a place is based. If you are taking one of the following qualifications, and you will complete your exams after you have applied to the University, UCAS should provide us with your results automatically.

  • A Levels
  • Scottish Highers
  • Irish Leaving Certificates
  • Most BTECs
  • The International Baccalaureate if you have given permission for your results to be shared with UCAS

Where UCAS do not provide us with your results, you will need to supply them to us yourself. You can do this by emailing electronic copies of your certificates/transcripts to us at shefapply@sheffield.ac.uk. You will need to bring the original paper copies with you when you come to the University to start your course (see below).

Processing your results

If you narrowly fail to satisfy the academic conditions of our offer, we may still be able to confirm your place. This will depend on whether we have any places left on the course you have applied for, any extenuating circumstances that may have impacted on your studies, and whether we believe you are sufficiently prepared for the course.

If there are places remaining once the bulk of results have been received in August, your application will be reviewed by the Admissions Tutor in the light of your final results.

Verifying your results

We require proof that students being admitted to the University have achieved the qualifications upon which the offer of a place was based. If UCAS has provided us with your results there is nothing you need to do. However, if you have supplied your results yourself, you should expect to have to present the original paper copies of your transcripts/certificates when you come to register at the University. We will email you to let you know how you can do this.

Students are not allowed to register until their qualifications have been fully verified by the University's central Admissions Service.
